Chelsea’s No To Hate Photography Competition.
Football has a remarkable ability to create positive change in society, transcending borders, social classes, and economic divides by uniting people through their shared love for the game and their teams. To showcase this, we've launched a photo competition inviting our global fan base to illustrate football's power in bringing communities together. In collaboration with renowned photographer Mel D. Cole, founder of the first black-owned football-specific photo agency, Charcoal Pitch F.C., we're asking fans to submit photos that highlight the diversity within the Chelsea community and the role of football in promoting tolerance.
To amplify this initiative, Chelsea players Romelu Lukaku, Magdalena Eriksson, and Jess Carter, along with Chelsea Women's manager Emma Hayes, participated in a discussion with CNN. They addressed the pervasive issues of racism and online abuse in football, highlighting the impact on themselves and their teammates. Lukaku specifically called on social media platforms to take greater responsibility in combating hate speech on their platforms.
We competition was highly successful! we received hundreds of submissions.
For this project we created a bespoke website, conducted multiple photo shoots with players and produced a video that was used to promote the contest. Mel D. Cole also acted as one of the judges.
